Dual Brush Pens FAQs

Should the Dual Brush Pens be stored vertically or horizontally?

Our Dual Brush Pens can be stored both horizontally and vertically. However, we recommend storing them horizontally to conserve consistent ink color over time.

What is the best paper to use with the Dual Brush Pens?

We recommend using smooth surface art papers to achieve the best results with the Dual Brush Pens. Typically the following papers will work well with this pen: marker paper, tracing paper, smooth mix media paper, vellum, and HP Premium32 laserjet paper.

Great undertone and shade selection.
I purchased these to put in my own stocking this year. So far I have done some practice portraits on heavy watercolor paper, the blending pen has been useful for blending out colors or blending two colors together. The paper I’m using is very absorbent so I do have to add some water if I want a watercolor effect. My 5 year old loves to draw and is always complaining she doesn’t have good skin tones so she has borrowed these a few times and she loves them so much I’m thinking of getting her a set of her own. The skin tones have a good selection of shades with each having a unique undertones, I’m hoping to expand my collection from here so I can have some good colors for eyes and other colors I would use to fully complete a portrait with the pens.

Bold and Delicate tones to round out your color collection!
This is my third set of Tombow dual brushpens and overall, I love love the brand! They’re easy to handle, smooth and come in varying shades of many colors. These skin tones, or coffee tones, as I like to refer to them, are perfect compliments to brighter and deeper colors I already have. They’re excellent for the hint of shadow when I letter.

Gorgeous
I love love love this set. It's very underrepresented in the bullet journal community which I don't understand. I use them to doodle little figures and the colors match so well with the brown themes in journals.

First Experiences
These are my first Tombow brand brush pens. So far I really like them. A few things though;

The numbering is strange. The shades when in numerical order don't look good together. I know there are more colors then what I have, but the lighter colors should be numbered lower than the darker colors.

The names of the colors aren't on the pens themselves. Actually, the names aren't anywhere to be found in or on the packaging. Again, maybe that's just my personal preference, but I think having the names of the colors would be a good idea.

The #912 (pale cherry) I would expect to be a shade of red or pink, but it seems more orange.

I do like how this set comes with a black and a colorless blender. I don't have to buy them separately or buy an entirely different set.

They have very little bleeding! Very nice.

Overall I enjoy them!
